Plump & Pudgy

The evil witch should have given Hansel and Gretel breast milk! Hazel's weight today is 10 lbs 9 oz - up more than two pounds since she was born. She's got nice fat cheeks and some lovely chins. These photos were taken 11/18, and they already look a little out of date!

Happy Thanksgiving

Juniper and her cousins (Emily, Jorge, and Alondra) eat their Thanksgiving dinner at the kids' table. Juniper was pretty good about trying the different foods, but quickly settled on her favorite items: turkey, cranberry sauce, and rolls.

Post-dinner walk with DeeDee (and a giant bubble wand).

Three silly, happy girls.

Mer-Juniper

Juniper enjoys laying down in the bath and "having everything sound funny". If she tips her chin down just right, she can sneak in some gulps of bathwater (normally off the menu).

Cousin Luke

There are lots of babies in the Honeycutt family! Our nephew Luke is just two months old. If biology is destiny, this kid should be a football player, but with Mark and Katie as parents I'm guessing that his future holds something a little more nerdy.

Meeting Dr. D

On day 6, Hazel had her first visit to the pediatrician (and first trip outside the house). We got official confirmation that she's the picture of perfect health.

Like her big sister, Hazel was a champ during the visit. She nursed through the PKU test with no tears.

Juniper likes hanging out in the waiting room, where she gets to watch TV. She also likes the band-aids, stickers, and fish tank.

Hello happy girls.

Gramps' visit

Aaron's dad came down to Atlanta to meet Hazel, visit with Juniper, check out a big antique show, and be the auctioneer for our preschool's annual auction (and to eat lots of ice cream). He packed quite a lot into a 3-day visit!

Hazel: Week 1

Hazel Honeycutt-Dill arrived last Saturday, Nov. 6. She's perfect, and everyone in the family is happy and doing well. Here are a few photos from her first week.

Fun at the zoo

Violet and Cheryl are in town for a nice long stay - hooray! (We're looking forward to Jason's arrival in a couple of weeks.) We had a fun, if cold, trip to the zoo yesterday.

The animals may get star billing, but the girls had just as much fun with these giant leaves they found in a trash (compost?) pile outside the zoo entrance.

Small girl, with big coat and large leaf.

I can stand on one leg too!

We didn't actually see a baby elephant, but we did get to see a baby kangaroo.

They spent a while playing hide and seek, which largely involved Violet counting and Juniper running to the exact same spot behind this hay bale.

I'm convinced the animals in the petting zoo must be sedated; it's hard to imagine goats so docile and uninterested in nibbling and exploring their visitors.

Cleaning up

We've been trying to get the house in good shape before the baby come. Nice of Juniper to help.

The many faces of Juniper

Happy

Silly

Glowering

Serious

Surprised

That she does all this on request probably means she isn't autistic. Unfortunately, we didn't get one of our favorites: goggling, where she opens wide and bugs out her eyes.

38 weeks

One of the (many, many) advantages to being with Aaron is having great photos to document the various milestones and events in our lives. Here are a few pictures from a recent maternity photo session we did. If you want even more belly, check out the full gallery on his website.

I think this one is Aaron's favorite.

Juniper is looking forward to the baby's arrival. (Of course, she has no way of actually understanding that once the baby comes she will no longer be the sole center of our family's universe.) She likes to kiss, snuggle, and sing to the baby.

Here she is listening to the baby.

Who knew that pregnant bellies could also double as helicopter landing pads?
